McCoy Flat Death Race

The McCoy Flat Death Race is an endurance elimination event held on July 18, 2026, at the McCoy Flats Trail Head near Vernal, Utah. The course takes place in the northeastern Utah desert and uses repeated laps on an endurance route.

Runners complete repeated 4.1 mile laps. Each lap must be finished within the allotted hour; a competitor who does not complete the lap in time or who does not begin the next lap at the start of the hour is removed from the race. Laps continue until one runner remains.

Prize structure awards the final remaining runner fifty US dollars for each lap completed. Second place receives twenty US dollars per lap and third place receives ten US dollars per lap. Custom medals, swag bags and race shirts are provided to all runners. Race shirts are guaranteed for registrations received by July 3.

A 50 mile relay in Vernal, Utah through Ashley National Forest with team and solo options. Support vehicles are allowed; the route has HAM radio operators and portable toilets and there are no aid stations.

Trail Half Marathon and 10K through Massey Meadow in the Uinta Mountains, featuring views of Dry Fork Canyon's Flume Trail, staffed aid stations, and a cash prize when a new course record is set.
