McCoy Flats Trail Events

The event takes place at the McCoy Flats Trail Complex in Vernal, UT on April 18, 2026. It offers the following distances:

  • 5K
  • 10K
  • 15K

Packet pickup for all distances is available at the McCoy Flats Trail Complex the evening before the race, on Friday April 17 from 5:00 pm to 6:40 pm, and the morning of the race from 6:00 am to 6:30 am.

Course descriptions note trail loops that start and finish at the corral. The 5K is an easy loop with approximately 65 ft elevation gain, exposed desert terrain, and limited shade. The 10K follows a loop through a desert canyon with about 505 ft elevation gain. The 15K combines desert running to a first aid station, a one mile canyon section to the top of a bluff, a marked trail back to the aid station, and then the same 10K course back to the start, totaling about 677 ft elevation gain and a panoramic view from the bluff. Aid station presence is specified for the 15K route.

A cash prize is offered when a new course record is set; prizes apply separately for male and female records and are $50 for 15K, $35 for 10K, and $25 for 5K. A 5 mile loop trail event on June 6, 2026 near Gull Lake in the Uinta Mountains, featuring 6 hour and 12 hour endurance formats plus a 5 mile speed run, with aid stations, 1,193 ft elevation gain, and cash prizes for new course records.

Take on the McCoy Flat Death Race in Vernal, Utah on July 18, 2026, a repeated 4.1 mile lap endurance test in the high desert. Start each lap on the hour and run until one remains while enjoying shirts, swag, medals and per lap cash prizes.

A 50 mile relay through Ashley National Forest near Vernal, Utah, with solo and team options for 2, 4, or 8 runners. Support vehicles are allowed and the route has HAM radio coverage and porta potties but no aid stations.
