Mountain Games - 10k Spring Runoff
Vail, United States • 7 Jun 2026
adidas Terrex 10K Spring Runoff
The adidas Terrex 10K Spring Runoff is a trail race held on Vail Mountain at nearly 9,000 feet that awards a cash purse. The course features constant elevation changes and mountainous terrain, with surfaces including Forest Service access dirt roads, uneven rocky sections, grass, loose gravel and undulating single track.
Racers start in a single mass wave. For 2026 the start format has changed: start positions within the wave are not preassigned, and the 10K and 20K races begin at the same time with the fastest competitors from each race lining up near the front. Athletes are responsible for selecting their start position. Course markings are black signs with red arrows and the official course map is published one week before the race.
There are two on-course aid stations supplying water and sports drink; all on-mountain aid stations are cupless, and participants receive a free collapsible cup at the start. The minimum age to compete is 12 years old based on age at the end of the calendar year. Multiple age categories are offered, including youth, adult age groups and a nonbinary category. Strollers and dogs are not permitted on the racecourse. Athletes who miss the start may still run but their clock will reflect the official race start time. The race starts and finishes in Nature Valley Mountain Plaza.
Entry pricing varies by registration period. The total prize purse is $12,200 with top open prizes for men and women. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
