Turquoise Lake 20K
The Turquoise Lake 20K is a point to point loop around Turquoise Lake that combines paved road and trail surfaces. The course begins with several miles of hilly paved road, and the final 5.5 miles run on single track dirt trail. The route is run clockwise around the lake. A rerouted course has been created for 2026 because of storm damage, and a map of the revised route is maintained by the organizer.
The event uses National Forest lands and county roads under a special use permit issued by the US Forest Service Leadville Ranger District and with permission from the Lake County Commissioners. Proceeds benefit youth athletics and recreation programs, including local youth fishing events and Nordic activities. The race staging is at the Matchless Boat Ramp on Turquoise Lake. Directions from town include taking 6th Street west to County Road 4 and following County Road 4 to the Matchless Boat Ramp area near Suger Loafin Campground RV Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
