Event

The Mortimer Forest Trail Race takes place on 14 December 2025 at Moor Park School, Ludlow (SY8 4DZ). It is organised by Ludlow Runners and held on Forestry England land and permissive paths through Monstay. The event has an ARC permit number ARC/25/0685. The event is currently full; new entries are placed on a waiting list and no payment is taken at the waiting list stage.

Course

There are two waymarked, marshalled routes that start by Blackpool carpark, a short walk from the school. Distances:

  • 10 mile - includes the Big Dippers, a climb to the top of High Vinnalls and views across the Welsh Marches to the Malvern Hills and Brecon Beacons.
  • 4 mile - follows larger tracks, omits the Big Dippers, and still includes a climb up High Vinnalls.

The 10 mile route has two road crossings that will be marshalled. The course is multi-terrain and can include mud and hills. Dogs are not allowed on the course.

Logistics, entries and extras

Race headquarters and parking are at Moor Park School; parking is limited and participants are asked to use the school parking only. Entry counts shown are 299 participants with 54 on the waiting list. Entry fees are £16.00 for the long race and £11.00 for the short race. Participant medallions are available, limited to 200, locally handmade and priced at £4. Donations from the event will support Friends of Mortimer Forest and Herefordshire Wildlife Trust.
