Mortimer Forest Trail Race : 14 December 2025

The Mortimer Forest Trail Race is scheduled for Sunday 14 December 2025 and is organised by Ludlow Runners. The event uses Mortimer Forest on the Herefordshire/Shropshire border. Race HQ and parking are at Moor Park School, Ludlow, SY8 4DZ. Both routes start by Blackpool carpark, a short walk from the school. The event holds a permit (ARC/25/0685).

Course and logistics

The 10 mile route is multi terrain and includes the Big Dippers and a climb to the top of High Vinnalls, followed by a downhill finish with views across the Welsh Marches, as far as the Malvern Hills and Brecon Beacons. The 4 mile route omits the Big Dippers and uses larger tracks but still includes a climb of High Vinnalls. The course will be marshalled and signed. The 10 mile route has two road crossings that will be marshalled. The route uses Forestry England land and permissive paths through Monstay. Dogs are not allowed.

Entries, fees and other notes

Entries were open 1 August to 7 December 2025. The event is now full and new entries go on a waiting list. There are 301 entries and 51 waiting list entries. Entry fees are £16 for the long race and £11 for the short race. Participant medallions are limited to 200 and cost £4. Parking at the school is limited. Donations will support Friends of Mortimer Forest and Herefordshire Wildlife Trust. Minimum ages: 19 for the 10 mile, 15 for the 4 mile.
