Course and terrain

The half marathon follows the first 13 miles of the marathon route on good forest tracks. The route is described as undulating and includes views of Coniston and the surrounding area. The half marathon finishes at Grizedale Visitor Centre. Marathon runners continue beyond that point on an eastern loop towards Windermere.
