Monroe Cross Trail 50 Mile Ultra
The Monroe Cross Trail 50 Mile Ultra is the sixth annual running event in Volusia County, Florida, centered on paved multi-use trails between Edgewater and DeBary. The main event is a point to point 50 mile course that begins at Rotary Park in Edgewater and finishes at Central 28 Beer Company in DeBary. The route follows the East Regional Rail Trail, the Spring-to-Spring Trail through Gemini Springs and Lake Monroe Park, a section along 17/92 toward Wayside Park in Sanford, and the Riverside Walk Trail along the shoreline of Lake Monroe to an approximate turnaround near mile 44.
Course support includes five aid stations spaced about every 8 to 12 miles. Participants must carry their own hydration and should be able to be self-supported for those distances. Runners may have personal crews follow them along the course. All participants must provide their own transportation to the start and pickup at the finish; the event does not provide general transport except for medical emergencies. Lights and reflective vests are required after dark and lack of required gear will result in disqualification.
Crew, family, and friends are welcome at the Central 28 finish area where food, drinks, and beer are available and seating or tent space can be used. Finisher medals are awarded for the 50 mile and 50K events; 17K finishers receive an award. Top 10 male and female finishers in each event receive prizes.
