Event

The Monroe Cross Trail 50 Mile Ultra is a multi-distance running event in DeBary, Florida. It is the fifth annual running of the event. Distances offered:

  • 50 Mile Ultra
  • 50K
  • 17K

Course and logistics

The 50 mile race is point to point, starting at Rotary Park in Edgewater and finishing at Central 28 Beer Company in DeBary. The route uses paved multi-use trails including the East Regional Rail Trail, the Spring-to-Spring Trail, Lake Monroe Park, 17/92 over the bridge toward Wayside Park in Sanford, and the Riverside Walk Trail. The turnaround for the 50 mile course is near mile 44. Aid stations are provided along the course, with five aid stations spaced about every 8 to 12 miles. Runners must carry their own hydration bottles or packs and should be able to be self supported for at least the distance between aid stations. Participants must arrange their own transportation to the start and pickup at the finish. Lights and reflective vests are required for anyone running after dark; failure to have them may result in disqualification. Runners may have their own crew follow them along the course.

Awards and facilities

The 50 mile and 50K finishers receive a finisher medal. All 17K finishers receive a finisher award. Prizes are awarded to the top 10 male and female finishers in each event. Crew, family, and friends may join at the Central 28 finish area where food, drinks, and beer are available and seating or tent space can be used.
