Lake Apopka Scenic Trail events at Magnolia Park
A series of trail races and a virtual option take place along the Lake Apopka North Shore Loop Trail, with the event hub at Magnolia Park in Apopka, Florida. The trail surface is mostly hard packed limestone with areas of grass, dirt, and gravel. The route passes wildlife habitat where birds and alligators are commonly present. To protect wildlife, the event is cupless and participants must carry their own hydration, for example a water pack or handheld bottle. Restrooms are available at the Green Mountain, North Shore/McDonald Canal boat ramp, and Magnolia Park trailheads, and there are port-a-lets at the historic pump house.
Distances offered include:
- 30K (18.6 miles) out and back on the Loop Trail
- Half marathon (13.1 miles) out and back on the Loop Trail
- 8 mile out and back to the historic pump house
- 5K out and back on the North Shore trail
- Virtual 18.6 mile option that can be completed anywhere
The 30K course includes four hydration stations with water and snacks along the route. The minimum age for individual entry in the 30K is 16. All participants receive a long sleeved mesh tech shirt and a finisher medal. Overall awards are given to the top three male and female finishers plus masters winners, and age group awards are presented in five year increments. Post race food includes bananas, chips, granola bars, cookies, sodas, and sports drink. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
