Courses, surfaces and logistics

The 30K is described as an 18.6 mile route along the Lake Apopka Loop Trail that starts and finishes at Magnolia Park. The 8 Mile and 5K are out-and-back courses on the Lake Apopka North Shore trail; the 8 Mile reaches the historic Lake Apopka Pumphouse. Trail surfaces include hard-packed limestone, packed lime rock or clay, pavement, grass, dirt and occasional gravel.

This is a cupless event. Participants must carry their own hydration (water pack or handheld bottle). The 30K has hydration/refueling stations at approximately mile 3, 7.3, 11.7, 14.7 and 17.1. The 8 Mile has hydration stations about every 2 miles.

The course closes at 12:45 pm. 30K entrants must be able to maintain a pace of 17:45 minutes per mile or faster to meet the cutoff. Minimum age for the 30K is 16; there is no minimum age for the 8 Mile and 5K.

Amenities, awards and beneficiary

All participants receive a long-sleeved mesh technical shirt and a finisher medal. Post-race food includes bananas, chips, granola bars, cookies, sodas and Gatorade. Awards are given to top overall finishers, masters and five-year age-group placings. A portion of each entry fee benefits Friends of the Green Mountain Scenic Byway (FGMSB).
