Momentus BackYard Ultra
The Momentus BackYard Ultra is scheduled for June 4, 2027 in Monroe, NC at Williams Rushing Farm. The event uses the official Backyard Ultra format: runners complete a 4.167 mile loop each hour until only one runner remains. There is no predetermined finish distance.
The course is approximately 4.167 miles per loop and mixes packed dirt, trail, grass, gravel, roots, and private farm roads. Terrain is rolling with about 100 feet of elevation gain per loop. Repeated laps and changing weather can alter footing and course conditions.
Event facilities include a spacious runner basecamp with designated crew areas and spectator viewing, a centrally located aid station providing water, electrolytes, coffee, and basic snacks, and camping in the designated runner village from arrival on race day until the final runner finishes. Personal aid and crew support are permitted only between loops in the basecamp area. Grills and contained fire pits are allowed; open ground fires are not.
Registration details note an early entry price of $135 for the first 50 entrants, then $155; UltraSignup fees are not included. Registration opens September 7, 2026. Crew access rules limit each runner to one approved on site vehicle in the primary parking area; oversized vehicles will be directed to overflow parking. Spectators are welcome and live entertainment is part of the weekend program.
Practical notes: leashed dogs are allowed in spectator and basecamp areas but not on course; headphones may be used at low volume; runners who begin Loop 8 must have a designated driver or arranged transportation. The closest major airport is Charlotte Douglas International Airport, about 45 minutes away. Typical early June weather in the area includes daytime highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s and overnight lows in the 60s. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
