Course and logistics

The course has been re-routed in places because of Duke Energy construction. The 5K is a single roughly 3-mile loop with two aid stations and a 4-hour cutoff. The 8 Miler is one roughly 8-mile loop with two aid stations and an 8-hour cutoff. The 25K is one roughly 15-mile loop with three aid stations and an 8-hour cutoff. The 50K consists of two laps of the 25K loop, includes six aid stations plus the start/finish area, and has a 10-hour cutoff; 50K runners must begin their second lap by 12:30 PM to continue.

All aid stations will offer water, Gatorade, and snacks. This is a cupless race. Organizers recommend a hydration vest for on-course efforts of about 90 minutes or longer. Weather forecasts provided in the event information note daytime temperatures in the 60s to low 70s, with the potential to reach the 80s for longer 50K finish times.
