Moccasin Ultra Fest - 36 Hours
Moccasin Ultra Fest is a 36-hour timed trail run held December 31 to January 1 in Memphis, Tennessee, at the Wolf River Refuge Trailhead on the Wolf River Trails. The event is run on a fast, flat 4 mile loop and runs continuously across the two calendar dates.
Participants may complete as many 4 mile loops as they choose during the 36 hour period. Each loop returns to the start and finish area where runners and crews can set up tents and rest. The course passes a row of lit tents and the main activity at the start/finish area.
Awards and recognition are given by distance:
- 1 loop (4 miles): finisher medal
- 13 loops (52 miles): 52 plus mile buckle
- 25 loops (100 miles): 100 mile buckle
- Sub 24 hour 100 miles: special sub 24 hour 100 mile buckle
Top male and top female who run the most miles in the 36 hour period each receive a $500 cash award. Every runner receives a Bella Canvas fleece style hoodie.
There is one fully manned aid station at the start/finish set up as a help yourself station with food, warm options, coffee, heaters, chairs, and blankets. Runners must bring any special dietary nutrition or hydration needs. Professional photography will be taken throughout the event and photos will be free for runners to download; runners should wear their bib on the front.
Key rules include no pacers, trekking poles allowed, staying on the marked course, no littering, no stashing supplies on course, and responsibility for crew behavior. Receiving IV fluids, oxygen, or sustaining a serious injury ends a participant's race. Official mileage is the last completed loop recorded when the 36 hour time limit ends.
Registrations are non refundable and non transferable. Deferrals for race credit are available as follows: 50 percent credit if deferred at least 60 days prior, 25 percent credit if deferred at least 30 days prior, and no credit after December 24, 2026. Late December weather in Memphis can vary widely; warm clothing and layers are recommended.
