Marquette Trail 50 : event overview

The Marquette Trail 50 is a trail running event held in mid-August. Distances offered include:

  • 50M
  • 50K
  • 1 Mile

The event uses trails around the Forestville Trailhead area and includes shorter community races such as a 5K and a kids 1-mile on the same weekend. Race operations are run entirely by volunteers, and race proceeds support local trail organizations and some local cross country teams.

Course, aid stations and logistics

The race course is marked with orange flags and ribbon; markers are frequent and denser near turns or intersections. Aid stations are cupless and provide water, electrolyte drink, soda, energy gels, fruit, cookies, PBJ sandwiches, pretzels, potato chips, granola bars, and candy. Participants must carry a bottle, cup, or hydration system to refill at aid stations.

Parking is centered at the Forestville Trailhead but capacity is limited and preference is given to vehicles with multiple racers. Single-racer vehicles or vehicles with spectators may be directed to designated roadside parking a short distance from the start, and arriving later can increase walking distance to the start. Some organized training runs take place in the months before the event; these runs are non-supported and participants are asked to carry their own food and water.
