Marji Gesick
Marji Gesick is a multi-distance mountain bike and run event produced by the 906 Adventure Team in Marquette County, Michigan. The production follows a self supported ethos: the event does not operate aid stations, GPS navigation is required, and e-bikes are not permitted. Routes are published the week of the event and timing is provided by a professional timing service.
Distances and formats include:
- MG15 mini event
- MG50 50 mile options for bike and run
- MG100 100 mile options for bike and run
- Worst of Both Worlds duathlon format
- MG200 held on a five year cycle
Marji Camp occurs in early June at Rippling River campground in Marquette. Camp participants are paired with coaches who lead two to three hour rides, with optional night rides and shared campsite activities. The camp emphasizes practical preparation and community camaraderie.
Logistics reflect the self supported model: participants bring their own gear, carry supplies, and may use drop bags that organizers move to a central location on the course. Checkpoints collect tokens at undisclosed locations. The event supports local trail organizations and returns a portion of entry fees to trail maintenance. The event began in 2015 as a 100 mile route connecting major trailheads across the county and draws attention for its demanding, navigation focused format.
