Llyn y Fan

This is a fell race of approximately 8.8 km (5.5 mi) with about 714 m (2,343 ft) of ascent, held from a registration point at the Llyn y Fan carpark, 1.5 miles east of Llanddeusant Youth Hostel. The event is limited to 50 runners and the online entry fee is £7. Refunds are offered for drivers arriving with three passengers, for minibuses with multiple occupants, and for cyclists.

The route crosses remote moorland with sections of off‑path climbing and descending. Most of the course is unmarked and offers some route choice. Directional canes are placed on the descent from Fan Foel to indicate the initial gully and final descent ridge only. There are a couple of stream crossings; competitors should select safe crossing points and may need to move upstream if streams are in spate. The reservoir access road is out of bounds while maintenance work is ongoing. There are no toilets at the registration area.

Participants should have good navigational skills, mountain judgement and self reliance. Escape routes are limited and the terrain and weather can increase risk and difficulty. Minimum age is over 16; junior entries under 18 require prior agreement between a parent and the race organizer. In adverse conditions event updates may be issued.
