Llantysilio Mountain Race

The Llantysilio Mountain Race takes place in the Dee Valley on Saturday 14 March 2026. The course is just over 6 miles long with approximately 2100 ft of ascent. It follows a route up to and along the Llantysilio Mountain ridge and includes a final climb to Moel y Gamelin at 1893 ft.

Race headquarters and registration are at the Conquering Hero, Rhewl, LL20 7YT. Parking is limited and participants are asked to share transport. The event is for over 18s only in line with WRFA guidelines. Entries open 1 January 2026 and close 12 March 2026; the entry fee is £8. Entry requires logging in or registering with the event entry system.

The race is run under WFRA rules. Runners should be prepared to carry a whole body waterproof cover, hat and gloves, a whistle and a compass, and are advised to carry their own map. The course is marshalled and includes a sweeper, but much of the route lies around 1500 ft and climbs to about 2000 ft, so weather can be extreme in March. The race director sets minimum clothing requirements on the day and may remove participants from the course if safety concerns arise.

A route map is published by the organiser. Course record times are 53:13 (2023) and 59:46 (2016). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
