Llantysilio Mountain Race

The Llantysilio Mountain Race takes place in the Dee Valley, offering a route that traverses the Llantysilio Mountain ridge. The course covers a distance of just over 6 miles and includes a total ascent of 2100ft. Participants follow a path that culminates in a final climb to the highest peak, Moel y Gamelin, which stands at an elevation of 1893ft.

The event is held under the rules of the Welsh Fell Runners Association (WFRA). Due to the nature of the terrain and the altitude, which ranges between 1500ft and 2000ft, specific safety equipment requirements are in place. Participants must be prepared to carry whole body waterproof cover, a hat, gloves, a whistle, and a compass. Carrying a map is also advised. The race director determines the final minimum clothing requirements on the day of the event based on weather conditions.

Race headquarters and registration are located at the Conquering Hero in Rhewl. The event is open to individuals aged 18 and older. While the course is marshalled and includes a "sweeper" to follow the final participants, the race organization maintains the authority to remove runners from the course if safety concerns arise for the individuals or the marshals. Parking at the venue is limited.
