Llantysilio Mountain Race

The Llantysilio Mountain Race is scheduled for 14 March 2026 and takes place in the Dee Valley. The route is just over 6 miles in length with approximately 2100 ft of total ascent. It follows a line up to and along the Llantysilio Mountain ridge and includes a final climb to Moel y Gamelin, which reaches 1893 ft.

Race headquarters and registration are at the Conquering Hero, Rhewl, LL20 7YT. Parking at the venue is limited. Entry opens 1 January 2026 and closes 12 March 2026; the published entry fee is £8.00. The minimum age for entrants is 18.

The event is run under WFRA rules. Runners should be prepared to carry whole body waterproof cover, hat and gloves, a whistle and a compass, and are advised to take their own map. Much of the route lies around 1500 ft and climbs to about 2000 ft; in March the weather at these heights can be severe. The race director and marshals may specify minimum clothing requirements on the day and may withdraw competitors if safety is a concern.
