Run the Raid on Lindisfarne

Run the Raid is a trail event on Lindisfarne offering a marathon and a half marathon across coastal paths, quiet lanes, and multi terrain sections. The event takes place on Sunday 2nd August 2026 and follows routes that start or finish on Holy Island and Spittal.

The program includes:

  • Marathon: Holy Island to Spittal to Holy Island, limited to 100 places.
  • Half marathon: point to point Spittal to Holy Island, limited to 500 places.

Age and entry details: the marathon is open to those aged 18 and over; the half marathon is open to those aged 17 and over. Entry fees are listed as £50 for the marathon and £30 for the half marathon. Optional extras include coach transport to the half marathon start for £6.50 and a commemorative tech t-shirt for £12.00.

Logistics and safety: the course is multi terrain and trail or sturdy road shoes are recommended. The causeway to Holy Island is only passable within stated safe crossing times and is flooded outside those times. Event time limits are 6 hours for the marathon and 4 hours for the half marathon. Hydration is provided at approximately 3 mile intervals and first aid is available at those points and at the finish. Bib packs include a race number and a chip timing tag and can be collected on the day or the day before at a gazebo on Holy Island. Scenic multi terrain races at Hulne Park near Alnwick Castle on 24 May 2026, featuring 5k, 10k, half marathon and junior 2k. The traffic free event includes chip timing, water stations and a finisher medal.

The Fellrunner at Windy Gyle is a rugged 13.7 km test with 549 m of climb across scenic Northumberland hills on Sun 21 Jun 2026. Entry on the day is welcome with modest fees for members and non members.
