Leftovers Trail Run

The Leftovers Trail Run takes place in Briar Chapel, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The event is held two days after the Thanksgiving holiday. Participants can choose between a 5K or a 10K distance on single-track and double-track trails within a large green community trail network. The courses start with a short paved section and include roots, rocks, and short hill climbs.

The 5K course is 3.48 miles long with 217 feet of elevation gain. The 10K course is 6.23 miles long with 380 feet of elevation gain.

Registration is available and fees increase at certain participation thresholds. Youth and senior runners receive a lower registration fee. A discount is available for those who register for both this event and the Birds of a Feather Trail Trot held on Thanksgiving Day.

The event features a post-race party with food and beverages. A free kids race for children 11 and under is included. An awards ceremony is held with contests and giveaways. Medical support and chip timing are provided.

A distinctive feature is the use of repurposed race materials. Participants receive a bib, t-shirt, and finisher's medal from past events. Any remaining t-shirts are sold at a discount after the race.

Parking is available on neighborhood streets near Great Meadow Park, with overflow parking at a nearby school. In-ear headphones are not permitted during the race.
