The Leftovers Trail Run is the 2nd annual edition held Saturday, November 28, 2026, at Briar Chapel in Chapel Hill, NC. The event offers two race distances and a free kids race for ages 11 and under. Race entry is limited. Registration packets include a vintage tee, a vintage medal with a Leftovers ribbon, and a repurposed bib taken from past events. Post-race provisions include varied food and beverages, an awards ceremony with contests and giveaways, and free professional photo downloads. Chip timing, medical support, and volunteer aid are provided.

Course and race services

Races start from the staging area at Great Meadow Park, Briar Chapel (161 Salt Cedar Ln, Chapel Hill, NC 27516). The trails use a 20+ mile network of forested hiking and mountain biking routes across about 900 acres. Course surfaces include short pavement at the start, double-track dirt, and single-track with roots, rocks, and short climbs. The event supplies marked courses, aid stations, and race timing.

  • 5K - 3.38 miles (5.4K); 217 ft elevation gain.
  • 10K - 6.2 miles (10K); 378 ft elevation gain.
