Event Information

The Leftovers Trail Run is scheduled for Saturday, November 28, 2026. It takes place at Briar Chapel in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Participants can choose between a 5K or a 10K distance. The courses are on single-track trails at Briar Chapel, described as having a mixture of terrain including double-track dirt trails, roots, rocks, and short hill climbs. Both races start with just under half a mile of pavement. The 5K course measures approximately 3.48 miles with 217 feet of elevation gain. The 10K course measures approximately 6.23 miles with 380 feet of elevation gain.

Registration and Fees

General registration is open. Fees increase at certain total runner thresholds (200, 300, 400). There is a $5 increase on race day if space is available. Youth (17 and under) and Senior (65+) participants receive lower registration fees. A discount is offered for registering for both this event and the Birds of a Feather Trail Trot on Thanksgiving Day.

Event Details

The event features a "vintage" concept for participant items. All runners receive a bib, tee, and medal described as leftover from past events and repurposed for this race. After the race, any remaining tees are sold at a discount.

A post-race party includes food, a free kids race for children 11 and under (called "Kids Race for Treasure"), and an awards ceremony with contests and giveaways. Professional chip timing is used. Aid stations are provided on course. The staging area is at Great Meadow Park (161 Salt Cedar Ln, Chapel Hill, NC).
