Common Rush Trail Run

The Common Rush Trail Run is a trail race at Harris Lake County Park in New Hill, North Carolina, scheduled for July 18, 2026. The event offers two distance options and takes place on park trails with lake views and open fields.

Distances:

  • 5.1 mile one-loop course starting with one mile of wide dirt road.
  • 10.1 mile two-loop course with an added lakeside single-track mile on the second loop.

Both courses begin with a wider dirt-road section to ease passing, then continue onto forested single-track with scenic lake views. The route is primarily single-track but generally allows passing in many places and contains minimal root and rock obstacles. Elevation gain is relatively modest at 188 feet for the 5 mile course and 377 feet for the 10 mile course. The overall technical rating is 2+ out of 5.

Field size is limited to 300 runners. Race services include chip timing, well-marked trails, frequent aid stations approximately every 1–2 miles, medical support, volunteer assistance, race shirts, post-race food and beverages, free post-race photos, and an awards program with age group and overall prizes. A free Kids Race for ages 11 and under is offered in a field format with age-grouped starts. Event rules include no in-ear earbuds or external speakers and a requirement to stay on marked trails.
