Common Rush Trail Run

The Common Rush Trail Run takes place at Harris Lake County Park in New Hill, North Carolina. The event offers two distance options and is held on July 18, 2026. Harris Lake Park covers about 680 acres and includes lake views, ponds, open fields, playgrounds, a disc golf course, and nearly 20 miles of forested hiking and mountain biking trails.

Distances:

  • 5 Mile
  • 10 Mile

The course uses a mix of terrain. It begins with 0.5 miles of wide dirt road then continues through open meadows, wide double-track dirt roads, and forested single-track sections, many with lake views. The 5 option is a one-loop route of about 5.5 miles and the 10 option is two loops of the same route. The course has minimal root and rock technical sections, with elevation gain of 211 feet for the 5 option and 397 feet for the 10 option. The organizer rates the technical terrain about 2 plus out of 5.

On race day the field is limited to 300 runners. Support includes frequent aid stations approximately every 1 to 2 miles, chip timing, medical support, course marking, volunteer assistance, a race tee, post-race food and beverage, awards and giveaways, and free race photos. A separate Kids Race for Treasure is offered for children 11 and under with age group divisions. Racers 12 and older may race unaccompanied; ages 8 to 11 must race alongside a registered parent or guardian unless otherwise approved.
