The Winter Poppyline 2026
The Winter Poppyline is a winter walking challenge of 50 miles through the undulating coastal and rural landscape of northeast Norfolk. The event is based at West Runton Scout Hut, Cromer Road, West Runton, NR27 9NQ, what3words aimlessly.prove.intersect.
The route includes a significant amount of night navigation for most entrants. Five checkpoints along the route provide hot and cold drinks and a variety of snacks. The event is a qualifying walk for the 2026 LDWA Hunnypot 100.
Entries are limited to 120 places; when the limit is reached new entrants are placed on a waiting list and no entries are available on the day. Entry fees are listed as £38 for LDWA members and £45 for non members. Entry is for LDWA members only until 18 December 2025. New waiting list entries do not require payment until a place is offered.
Organisers specify essential equipment to be carried, including a route description and maps (Explorer 251 and 252 or Landranger 133) or downloaded digital maps with spare power, a fully charged mobile phone, compass, torch and spare batteries, a mug, warm and waterproof clothing, water bottle, emergency food, first aid kit, whistle, survival bag and reflective clothing.
Car parking at the venue is limited. Checkpoint catering includes meat and vegetarian options, limited vegan choices, and organisers cannot guarantee allergen free food. Cancellation and refund terms apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
