The Winter Poppyline 2026

The Winter Poppyline 2026 is a challenge winter walking event held on 14-15 February 2026 in north-east Norfolk. The route is 50 miles with a 22.5-hour time limit through undulating coastal and rural countryside. The event includes five checkpoints that provide hot and cold drinks and a variety of food. The walk serves as a qualifying event for the 2026 LDWA Hunnypot 100.

Practical details

The event base is West Runton Scout Hut, Cromer Road, West Runton, Norfolk, NR27 9NQ (what3words: aimlessly.prove.intersect). Entry is limited to 120 places; when full further entries are held on a waiting list. Minimum age is 18. Entry fees are listed as £38 for LDWA members and £45 for non-members, and there will be no entries on the day. LDWA members have priority entry until 18 December 2025.

Participants must carry essential equipment including a route description and maps (Explorer 251 & 252 or Landranger 133, or downloaded digital maps with spare power), a mobile phone with backup charge, torch and spare batteries, warm and waterproof clothing, mug, water bottle, emergency food, first aid kit, whistle, survival bag and reflective clothing. Parking at the venue is limited. Organisers provide food for meat eaters and vegetarians and limited vegan options; special dietary needs cannot be guaranteed.
