Event

The Winter Poppyline 2026 is scheduled for 14 to 15 February 2026. The event is a long-distance winter walk of 50 miles across the undulating coastal and rural landscape of north-east Norfolk. The route includes significant sections of night navigation for many entrants. The event is a qualifying event for the 2026 LDWA Hunnypot 100. Five checkpoints are provided along the route offering hot and cold drinks and a variety of food.

Entry and fees

Entry is limited to 120 participants. The event is currently full and new entries are being placed on a waiting list (45 waiting list entries reported). Minimum age is 18 on the event date. Entry fees are listed as LDWA members £38 and non-members £45. Entry is only for LDWA members until 18 December 2025; non-members may enter after that date if places remain. There are no entries on the day.

Logistics and safety

The event base is West Runton Scout Hut, Cromer Road, West Runton, Norfolk, NR27 9NQ (what3words: aimlessly.prove.intersect). Car parking is limited and car sharing is encouraged to help accommodation of entrants. Checkpoint opening and closing times are strictly adhered to. Participants must carry essential equipment including a route description and map (paper or downloaded digital), spare power source for electronics, torch and spare batteries, mobile phone, compass, warm and waterproof clothing, mug, water bottle, emergency food, first aid kit, whistle, survival bag and reflective clothing. Organisers provide meat and vegetarian food and limited vegan options; they cannot guarantee allergen-free food or meet all special dietary requirements.
