The Law Breaker 2026

The Law Breaker is a short hill race held in Tillicoultry and forms part of the SHR Championship and the East District Championship. The course is 5.4 km in length and includes approximately 630 metres of ascent over roughly half the distance. The route follows a well used walkers’ path to the summit of The Law, is marked clearly until the Gannel Burn bridge, and then continues on a single line to the top. The return follows the same route. Marshalls will be positioned on the course.

The start and finish are on Upper Mill Street, with race number collection in the nearby Masonic Hall. Entries are limited to 250 participants; once that limit is reached a wait list will operate and no payment is taken to join the wait list. The entry fee is £14 plus a booking fee. No refunds are issued after confirmation of entry.

There are no water stations on course so runners may carry their own fluid. Mandatory kit checks will be carried out at the start; participants must carry or wear a full body waterproof cover and wear hill or trail running shoes with an aggressive grip; road shoes are not permitted.

There will be a professional first aid team at the finish and an established emergency protocol for incidents on the hill. Prize giving will take place in the Masonic Hall shortly after the final runner has finished. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
