Logistics

The race starts and finishes at The Langstrath Country Inn in Stonethwaite, Keswick. Registration takes place at the inn, opening around 6:15 PM on the day of the event. Entry is on the day only, with a fee of £8.00.

Parking is available at Borrowdale CE Primary School, which typically opens around 5:30 PM. Participants should follow marshals' instructions.

The Course

The route begins on the village street before turning onto a lane towards Stonethwaite Bridge. The terrain then becomes rougher. Runners climb via a stepped path to open fell, passing a ruined peat house, and continue to Dock Tarn.

A marshal is stationed at Dock Tarn. Following a short, sharp descent, a flagged, compulsory section begins at a kissing gate and runs through an area designated as an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). After this section, the route proceeds to Watendlath and then onto a broad path towards Rosthwaite for approximately 1.5 km of faster running. A marshal directs runners onto a narrow path above Rosthwaite, which leads back to the main path and Stonethwaite Bridge. The finish line is reached by retracing steps up the village.

Kit Requirements

Participants must bring a full set of FRA mandatory kit, including waterproof whole-body cover (with taped seams and an integrated hood), hat, gloves, a map of the route, compass, whistle, and emergency food. The race organizer has discretion to require kit checks, though requirements may be relaxed in good weather.

Prizes

Prizes are awarded equally for men and women. Cash prizes are given for the top three overall finishers (£30, £15, £10), and for age categories 50, 60, and 70.
