Lake Perry Trail Run
The event is a trail race at Perry State Park near Meriden, Kansas, held on mountain bike single track in a hardwood forest. The trails are described as technical, rocky, and hilly, with every hill runnable. The course uses looped laps on the park trails managed by the Kansas Trails Council and starts at the Kimberly Drive Trailhead.
Distances include:
- 50K: four loops, 900 feet elevation gain per loop.
- 1/2 Marathon: two loops.
- 1/4 Marathon: one loop.
Aid and support are concentrated at the main start area. The staffed main aid station supplies sports drink, water, Coke, Ginger Ale, and some food items. Two remote unstaffed water stations are located at about mile 2.25 and mile 4.1. Runners are advised to carry a hydration device. Drop bags are allowed for the 50K and the half marathon and may be left at labeled tables near the main aid station.
Timing is manual and runners must wear their bib number visibly on the front. Awards are given for first through third place male and female in each distance. All finishers receive distance specific finisher medals and oval stickers; all 50K finishers also receive a Lake Perry 50K finisher trucker cap in a choice of color. Participants who are mothers will receive an extra swag item. Camping, lodging, and dining options exist within about 20 miles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
