The Snake 10-Mile Trail Race
The Snake 10-Mile Trail Race is an annual event held at Clinton Lake in Lawrence, Kansas. The race takes place on the north shore of the lake, utilizing a course through rugged trails and old-growth forest. The event is named for the winding nature of the path, which offers a unique layout for participants familiar with the local trail system.
The course features a single distance:
- 10 Miles
The race starts and finishes at Shelter 1 in Overlook Park. A midway aid station is available on the course, managed by trail runners. Participants are required to carry their own hydration container while running. To ensure safety and track participation, a sign-in and sign-out sheet is used on the day of the event.
The event follows specific guidelines to protect the natural environment. Runners must stay on marked trails and are prohibited from littering. Dogs are permitted on the course provided they remain on a leash. The use of jogging strollers or other wheeled vehicles is not allowed.
