Hawk Hundred - Clinton State Park
The Hawk Hundred is a trail race held at Clinton State Park in Lawrence, KS, offering these distances:
- 100 miles
- 50 miles
- Marathon (26.2 miles)
The course is a 25-mile loop of technical, rolling trails. Marathon runners run an additional 1.2 miles on the Nature Center Trail before joining the 25-mile loop. The loop includes a 1.1-mile out-and-back to the top of Sanders Mound and a 2.5-mile Goodwin Loop that traverses Bunker Hill. White and blue blazed trail crossings are marked; runners are responsible for following blazes and signs to stay on course.
The event uses chip timing and provides live updates on race day. The race operates three staffed aid stations stocked with Tailwind and Honey Stinger products and a mix of vegan, vegetarian, and omnivore options; hot food is available overnight. Aid stations are located at roughly 4.5, 10.5/13, 18.5, and the Start/Finish at 25 miles, with varying crew access and drop bag policies.
Pre-race briefing and packet pickup occur the morning of the event; drop bags must be left race morning 15 minutes before a runner’s scheduled start. Registration closes September 4; deferral and distance-change policies apply with deadlines in August. The race has established cutoffs at aid stations; failing to meet them can affect finishing status and award eligibility. Cancellation or postponement does not trigger refunds.
