The Ad Astra Running Billy Mills 10K is an annual running and walking event held at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas. Now in its eleventh year, the race takes place on the 10 km Billy Mills Trail, which serves as the university's championship cross country course. This location is the alma mater of Olympic gold medalist Billy Mills.
Participants can choose from the following options:
- 10 km In-Person (Adult)
- 10 km In-Person (Student K-12)
- 10 km Virtual (All Ages)
The course is a maintained cross country trail designed to be safe for various ability levels. Paid participants receive several items, including a long-sleeve race shirt, a custom finisher's medal, and a discount coupon for footwear. Awards in the form of gift certificates are provided to the top three overall finishers, the top two age-graded masters, and first-place winners across twelve different age categories ranging from elementary students to participants aged 75 and over.
A virtual participation option is available for those unable to attend the in-person event. Virtual runners and walkers can complete the 10 km distance during the months of October or November to receive the commemorative shirt and medal.
