Lake Norman State Park 30K & 50K Trail Race

The Lake Norman State Park Trail Race takes place at Lake Norman State Park in Troutman, NC on December 5, 2026. The event offers two distance options on smooth-rolling single-track trails composed of multiple distinct loops with no repeat loops. All loops are run counterclockwise and are routed opposite to bike traffic.

Distances

• 30K - single-track loops, approximately 1,600 feet elevation gain.
• 50K - shares initial route with 30K then adds additional loops, approximately 1,600 feet elevation gain.

The 30K course passes two aid stations and the 50K course passes four; both events have a nine-hour cut-off. Aid stations are described as fully stocked with water, soda, Tailwind, and food items including sandwiches, cookies, fruit, Hammer Gels, chips, and other snacks. Specific aid locations include an aid station at the Wildlife Loop entrance/exit (approx Mile 6.3 and Mile 14.3), a hydration station for 50K runners at approx Mile 18.3, and an aid station before Monbo Loop at approx Mile 24.2.

All finishers who complete their chosen event receive a finisher medal. Awards are given to 1st place Overall Male and Female and 1st place Male and Female Masters for both distances. The event is held rain or shine; there are no refunds, bib transfers, or deferrals. Participants who register by November 6 receive a long-sleeved shirt.
