Lake Norman State Park Trail Race

Lake Norman State Park 30K & 50K Trail Race : December 5, 2026

The event holds two trail distances:

• 30K
• 50K

Both events use smooth-rolling single-track trails with no repeat loops. All loops are run in a counterclockwise direction, opposite to bike traffic. The listed elevation gain for each course is approximately 1,600 feet. A nine-hour cut-off applies to both distances.

The 30K route follows Laurel Loop, Wildlife Loop, Fallstown Loop, and Fox Loop, returning to the field behind the visitor center. The 50K follows the 30K route initially and continues onto Hawk Loop, Hicks Creek Loop, Norwood Creek Loop, and Monbo Loop before returning to the finish area.

Aid stations are available along the courses. Stations will provide water, soda, Tailwind, sandwiches, cookies, fruit, gels, chips, and other snacks. Specific aid station locations are described for the course; some stations will be passed more than once.

All finishers who complete their selected distance will receive a finisher medal. Awards will be given to first place overall male and female and first place masters male and female in both events. Results will be posted to UltraSignUp and Ultrarunning Magazine.

The race proceeds rain or shine. The park offers camping and hotels in nearby Statesville and Mooresville are about 20 minutes away. Participants who register by November 6 will receive a long-sleeved shirt. Refund policy: no refunds, bib transfers, or deferrals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
