Lake Norman State Park 30K & 50K Trail Race
The event is the eighth annual trail race at Lake Norman State Park in Troutman, NC, offering two distance options.
- 30K - single-track loops; approximately 1,600 ft elevation gain; passes 2 aid stations.
- 50K - single-track loops; approximately 1,600 ft elevation gain; passes 4 aid stations.
Both courses use a series of named loops on single-track trail with no repeat loops. Loops mentioned include Laurel, Wildlife, Fallstown, Fox, Hawk, Hicks Creek, Norwood Creek, Monbo, and Lake Shore Loop as an alternate if other trails are closed. All loops are run counterclockwise and are opposite to bike traffic. Both distances share portions of the route.
Aid stations are fully stocked with water, soda, Tailwind, sandwiches, cookies, fruit, Hammer Gels, chips, and other snacks. Specific aid placements are noted in the course description, including repeated passes of certain stations on the 30K and 50K routes. There is a 9-hour cut-off for both events.
All finishers who complete their selected distance receive a finisher medal. Awards are given for 1st overall male and female and 1st masters male and female in each event. The event is held rain or shine and has a no-refund, no-transfer, no-deferral policy. Camping is available at the state park and nearby towns offer hotel options.
