Kirkby Gala Fell Race

The event takes place on Saturday 27th June 2026 at The Sports Field, Beckside, Kirkby-in-Furness, Cumbria LA17 7TG (Grid Reference 233823; What Three Words ///picnic.startles.daylight). The race is a BOFRA Championship counter. The senior route is 3.45 miles / 6.00 km with 750 feet / 240 meters of ascent.

Course and practical information

The route uses a new line through fields up to the windmill. It starts with a lap of the showfield, goes up the road for a short distance, then turns left across fields, comes out to a road and turns right before following a track toward the windmills. Age categories include Under 9, Under 12, Under 14, Under 17 and Seniors. BOFRA members may camp on the gala field on Friday and Saturday nights at £20 per family per night. Allithwaite 8 on 1 November 2025 is an 8 mile 13 km trail and fell race on the edge of the Lake District and Cartmel peninsula, promising scenic, varied terrain and a true off road feel. Entries are currently full with a waiting list.
