Kirkby Gala Fell Race

Kirkby Gala Fell Race takes place on Saturday 27th June 2026 at the Sports Field, Beckside, Kirkby-in-Furness, Cumbria LA17 7TG, on the A595. The event uses a new route that runs through fields and then up to the windmills. The course begins with a lap of the showfield, proceeds up the road for a short distance, turns left across fields, comes out to a road and turns right, then follows a track up towards the windmills.

The distance is 3.45 miles / 6.00 km with 750 feet / 240 meters of climb. The race serves as a BOFRA Championship counter. Age categories include Under 9, Under 12, Under 14, Under 17 and Seniors. Senior and junior routes are noted.

BOFRA members may camp on the gala field on Friday and Saturday nights at a charge of £20 per family per night. Runners who are not camping are requested to park in the field near the bottom of the road behind the shop.
