Kings Mountain Gateway Trail 5K/10M - March 28, 2026

The event at the Trail Head in Kings Mountain, NC includes two measured trail races on gravel and packed-surface trails. Both races use a gun start and chip timing. Packet pick-up is scheduled Friday, March 27 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Trail Office, with additional race-day pick-up starting at 7:30 am at the Trail Head. T-shirts are only guaranteed through March 18, 2026.

There will be a water/aid station at the 5K and the 10-mile turnaround, and water will be provided at the finish. Awards: trophies to the top three male and top three female finishers in each race. Age groups: U-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Overall winners are not eligible for age group awards.

Course notes: the race begins on Quarry Road and continues onto a 10-foot-wide gravel trail. The 5K follows the Foote and Plateau trails with a marked turnaround and a rail-trail finish. The 10-mile course is an out-and-back entirely on the Foote Trail, skirting an inactive mine with views of lakes and a private bridge over Interstate 85.
