Soggy Bottoms Back Yard Ultra

Lincolnton, United States • 2 May 2026

Event Overview

The Soggy Bottoms Back Yard Ultra is an annual event taking place on May 2, 2026, at Five Oaks Farm in Lincolnton, North Carolina. The format includes a full day event and two half-day options: the Morning Half and the Afternoon Half.

Format and Course

The event follows a "backyard ultra" format where participants choose either a 1-mile or 2-mile farmland trail loop. A new lap starts every 30 minutes from a covered pavilion. The goal is to complete as many loops as possible. Music plays two minutes before each lap start. The course features scenic views, rolling hills, and a vista of South Mountain in the distance. Participants can run, ruck, or walk.

Registration and Cause

Entry is gained by making a donation of any amount; there is no set registration fee. Donations from the event go to support the family of Gary Powers (F3 Brother- Ranger) and to benefit the residents of the North Lake House Memory Care. Donations are not tax-deductible. A commemorative event T-shirt is available for separate purchase.

Venue and Facilities

The event is held on a family-owned farm. A covered pavilion serves as the start/finish area where participants can store personal supplies. Adjacent parking and restrooms are available. The organizers provide water and light snacks, but participants are expected to supply their own primary fuel and snacks. The event is promoted as family-friendly, encouraging participants of all ages to join. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
