Time Laps 24-Hour Relay Race

Time Laps is a lap-based, 24 hour trail running relay held at the Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC and scheduled for May 21-22, 2027. Teams earn points by completing laps; each lap has a point value based on its distance and elevation change. Standings are decided by accumulated points, and runners must check in at the scoring table after each lap.

Teams may include 2 to 12 participants, can be single gender or coed, and may run in any order. Only one runner per team accrues points at a time, and each team member must complete at least one lap. Runners from the same team may run together between sunset and sunrise if they prefer. The event is limited to 400 participants on a first register, first serve basis.

Registration details note a pre-registration fee of $165 per person and that day-of registration is not available. Registration includes a prepared dinner, breakfast, lunch, raffle tickets, a race t-shirt, and a finisher’s medal; shirts and medals are guaranteed for those who pre-register by specified deadlines. Registration is non-refundable.

The event provides designated team campsites with a refundable $50 cash deposit, prohibits generators, allows dogs on a 6 ft leash, and will check coolers for outside alcohol. Trails remain open to other users, no aid stations are on course, and participants must call 911 for emergencies. Parking at the facility has a daily fee.
