Carolina Thread 8/4Hr is a trail running event at Bailes Ridge near Fort Mill, SC. The event uses the Bailes Ridge Trail system and features a repeated loop course. Participants run a 1.4 mile loop with about 95 feet of elevation gain and loss per loop. The surface is a wide open, nontechnical double track.
There are two event options:
- 8 hour race
- 4 hour race
One aid station is located at the start/finish area and offers organic food items such as fruit, chips, candy, and cookies, plus water and Tailwind. Hot organic options like protein pancakes and grilled cheese will be prepared during the day. There is ample space near the start/finish for crewing areas and runners may set up next to their vehicles.
Finishers receive an etched coffee mug, a handmade medal, and a Carolina Thread sticker. The swag bag includes a trucker hat, a BALS sticker, and samples. Top finishers in each event receive custom handmade awards.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at Charlotte Running Company in Rock Hill and also at the start/finish area on race day. Pacers are generally not allowed; exceptions may be approved by the organizer. No refunds are issued, but transfers and a one year pregnancy deferral are available under the event policy.
