New South Trail Marathon - Whitewater

The event offers two trail running distances on the Whitewater Center trail system in Charlotte, NC:

  • 13.1 miles
  • 26.2 miles

Courses take place on multiple surfaces, including natural surface trails over uneven terrain. Aid stations are located at South Main (hydration only), East Main (hydration only), Academy (hydration and food), and the Start/Finish line (hydration and food). Marathon and Half Marathon finishers receive finisher medals when registered by February 21. Short sleeve shirts for the Half Marathon and long sleeve shirts for the Marathon are guaranteed only for participants who pre-register by March 23. Optional race hoodies are available as an add-on.

Logistics and policies

Registration fees are listed per distance with different pre-registration and race day rates. Packet pick-up is scheduled for April 3. All participants must sign the Whitewater Center Assumption of Risk Agreement before participating; the waiver may be printed and brought to packet pick-up or completed on site and is not included in the online registration form. Race registration is non-refundable. Race courses will be marked with colored arrows. Trails remain open to other runners, hikers, and bikers; headphones and powered transportation (including E-bikes) are discouraged or prohibited. The Whitewater Center has a $12 daily parking fee. In an emergency participants must call 911; the center does not conduct trail rescues. Events are scheduled to proceed rain or shine, and the center may alter, reschedule, or cancel events.
