New South Trail Marathon

The New South Trail Marathon is a trail running event at the Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC. The event offers two distances:

  • 13.1 miles Half Marathon
  • 26.2 miles Full Marathon

Races take place on the Whitewater Center trail system. Courses are marked with colored arrows and include natural surface trails over uneven terrain. Aid stations are located on the course: South Main (hydration only), East Main (hydration only), Academy (hydration and food), and the Start/Finish Line (hydration and food).

Logistics, fees and policies

Pre-registration fees end Wednesday, April 1. Fees listed are: Full Marathon pre-registration $95 and race day $100; Half Marathon pre-registration $75 and race day $80. Packet pick-up is scheduled the day before the race at the Conference Center. Short sleeve shirts for the Half Marathon and long sleeve shirts for the Marathon are guaranteed to those who pre-register on or before March 23. Race medals are guaranteed to those who pre-register on or before February 21.

Race registration is non-refundable. Trails remain open to other users during the event; headphones are discouraged and participants should communicate when passing others. No pets or powered transportation are allowed on the course. Events proceed rain or shine, and the Whitewater Center may alter, reschedule, or cancel events. The Whitewater Center does not conduct trail rescues; participants must call 911 for emergencies and can reference emergency location markers. Awards require presence at the award ceremony and are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group: 14 and under, 15-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, and 61 and better.
