The Last Wolf - Kings Mountain, NC

The Last Wolf is scheduled for October 10, 2026 at 4611 Linwood Road in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. The event lists multiple distance options and a Last Man Standing format that repeats a 3.1 mile (5K) loop until only one runner remains.

Distances:

  • Last Man Standing format
  • 50K
  • 25K
  • 5K

The Last Man Standing format uses a changing time allowance for each loop. Runners complete repeated 3.1 mile (5K) loops with time limits that increase from 40 to 45 to 50 to 55 to 60 minutes, then reset to 40 minutes and repeat. Missing a cutoff results in elimination. The final winner must complete one solo loop within the current time limit; if that loop is not finished in time, the race ends without a winner.

The course is described as an out-and-back of roughly a mile and a little more, on gravel trails with some uphill and downhill sections. An aid station will offer basic food items including pickles, cereal, pretzels, candy, fruit, and bacon, plus water, Tailwind, a variety of sodas, and first aid supplies. Bibs must be worn on the front and clearly visible; trekking poles are not allowed. Weather may include rain and fog.

Additional rules note no dogs or strollers on course except by exception, runners and walkers are allowed if they meet time limits, entry fees are non-refundable if the event is canceled, and the event is private so unregistered participants are not permitted. Medals are awarded upon completion and are unique to each finisher. Registration closes October 5 at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
