Course and features

The course runs through Doe Mountain Recreation Area and includes a variety of terrains and views. All participants have the opportunity to climb the 60-foot Kettlefoot Fire Tower, which provides 360° panoramic views that include parts of Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina. Experience Troublesome Hollow in Bristol VA April 25 to 26 2026 on fast riverside trails with swinging bridges, trestles and a brief climb to a fire tower. Choose 50K, 25K or a 3 mile walk with professional chip timing and aid stations.

Run scenic mountain trails at Grayson Highlands State Park May 2 and 3, 2026 with distances from 8 Mile to 50 Mile, big climbs and sweeping views. All finishers receive a hat and medal and proceeds benefit the park and local rescue.

Run the scenic Virginia Creeper Trail from Abingdon VA on a June weekend, choosing from 50 mile, 55K or the Pepsi Challenge 25K. Expect crushed gravel, trestles, forests and streams, chip timing and a custom Pepsi Challenge finisher medal.

Tackle the Steele Creek Struggle Half on Oct 3 in Bristol TN, a 13.1 mile trail with 2,000+ feet of climbing across technical single track, creek crossings and rugged ridgelines. Not for beginners; proceeds benefit Steele Creek Park.
