Event Overview
The Kettlefoot running event takes place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Doe Mountain Recreation Area near Mountain City, Tennessee. It is a USATF-sanctioned trail run. Participants have the opportunity to climb the 60-foot Kettlefoot Fire Tower for panoramic views of Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina. A free kids' trail run, the Kiddlefoot Mile, is available for ages 5-12 on race day.
Distances & Course
The event offers three trail running distances:
- 50K: Approximately 31 miles with about 5,700 feet of elevation gain, consisting of two loops of the 25K course. The cutoff time is 10.5 hours.
- 25K: Approximately 15.5 miles with about 2,850 feet of elevation gain. The cutoff time is 7.5 hours.
- 13K: Approximately 8.5 miles with about 2,000 feet of elevation gain. The cutoff time is 4 hours.
Registration & Fees
Registration is handled online via Ultrasignup. The registration fee covers facility use, aid stations, a finisher award, and post-race food. T-shirts are an optional add-on purchase. A 50% refund is available until March 30, 2026. Registration transfers to another runner are also allowed until that date. Pregnancy/postpartum deferrals are permitted for up to two years.
Race Weekend Schedule
Early packet pickup is available on Friday, May 29, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. On race day, runner check-in and packet pickup are from 5:30 AM to 7:00 AM. The 50K and 25K races start at 7:30 AM. The 13K race starts at 9:00 AM. The Kiddlefoot Mile for kids starts at 9:05 AM. All runners must finish by their respective cutoff times in the afternoon.
