Kettlefoot

Kettlefoot is a trail race held at Doe Mountain Recreation Area near Mountain City, Tennessee on May 30, 2026. The event offers multiple distances and varied trail terrain. All participants may climb the 60 foot Kettlefoot Fire Tower for 360° views across Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina. The event is USATF sanctioned.

Registration is handled online via UltraSignup; there is no paper registration. The registration fee covers use of the facility, aid stations, a finisher award, and post-race food. T-shirts are available as an add-on option. Refunds of 50 percent and transfers are allowed until March 30, 2026. A pregnancy or postpartum deferral is available for up to two years.

The 50K course consists of two loops, with the 25K loop run twice. Volunteers receive a t-shirt and post-race food.

  • 50K: ~31 miles; ~5,700 ft elevation gain; 10.5 hour cutoff
  • 25K: ~15.5 miles; ~2,850 ft elevation gain; 7.5 hour cutoff
  • 13K: ~8.5 miles; ~2,000 ft elevation gain; 4 hour cutoff

The Kiddlefoot Mile is a free one-mile trail event for ages 5 to 12; a responsible adult may accompany a child and registration for this youth race is handled on race day. Doe Mountain Recreation Area is near short-term rentals and several campgrounds; contact the race director about camping on DMRA property.
