Kent Backyard Ultra Series - Bedgebury

Kent Backyard Ultra Series 2.4 takes place on 16 July 2027 at Bedgebury National Pinetum & Forest, using The Walled Garden as basecamp. Entry is capped at 250 runners and the event is open to anyone aged 16 or older. Ticket prices range from £80 to £125.

The format follows the Backyard Ultra rules. Runners complete a 4.167 mile yard every hour and must return to the starting corral within 60 minutes. If a runner does not finish a yard in time or chooses to stop, they are out. Rounds continue until a single runner completes a yard alone and is declared the Last Person Standing. Only one runner can finish; all others are recorded as DNF.

The out-and-back course uses wide, runnable gravel forest trails with rolling terrain. The same route is used for both day and night running, with easy access to the base between yards. The course is designed for rhythm and consistency. The current course record stands at 30 yards.

Awards recognise incremental achievements: a Kent Backyard Ultra medal for completing at least one yard, a Bronze Buckle for 24 yards or 100 miles, and higher buckles for specific series and race outcomes. Hellfire Events provides marked routes, live timing, marshal support, first aid, toilets, shelter and camping options.
