The Kal-Haven Trail Run is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, pending final approval from the Michigan DNR. The event takes place on the Kal-Haven Trail State Park, 4143 10th St N, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. It offers three entry types: Solo Runner, 2-person relay team, and 3-6 person relay team. The solo course runs from Kalamazoo to South Haven and is about 33.5 miles. Solo runners may use up to three drop bags.
Course, distances and logistics
The 3-6 person relay is divided into six legs with the following distances:
- 10th Street to 6th Street - 3.9 miles
- 6th Street to Kendall - 5.7 miles
- Kendall to Bloomingdale - 8.0 miles
- Bloomingdale to Grand Junction - 5.9 miles
- Grand Junction to Kibbie - 6.5 miles
- Kibbie to South Haven - 3.5 miles
There are ten aid stations along the trail that serve as relay exchange points and provide food and hydration. Parking is not allowed along 10th Street or the trailhead entrance; overflow parking is at Center Point Church, 2345 10th St N. A shuttle will run between Center Point Church and the trailhead on race morning. Two return shuttle options are offered at set times and must be purchased at registration.
Registration, packet pickup and awards
Online registration with a commemorative shirt runs from Dec 1 to March 22. Late registration (March 23 to April 11) does not include a shirt. Packet pickup is available Friday, April 10 (Mitten Running Co, Portage) and on race morning at the Kal-Haven Trail State Park. All registrations are final. All finishers receive a finisher medal; awards are given by 5-year age groups and by Male, Female, and Non-Binary categories. Coed relay composition rules apply for 3-6 person teams.
