Event details

The Jurassic Express Trail Run is a coastal trail event on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. The route starts on Swanage seafront and finishes beneath the ruins of Corfe Castle. Distances offered are:

  • 21.0 km - Half Marathon, 473 m elevation gain
  • 16.5 km - Trail Run, 399 m elevation gain
  • 10.5 km - Trail Run, 273 m elevation gain

The event is chip timed and includes a finisher medal, finisher goodie and drink, a personalised certificate, first aid cover, on-course refreshments and water stations. Spectators are welcome and may purchase return train tickets for the private vintage train that carries participants back to Swanage.

Course and logistics

The course follows firm chalk paths and sandy tracks with coastal views past Old Harry Rocks, Studland, and Corfe Castle. The route is signed using pink arrows and pink tape; hazards and road junctions are marked with caution signs. B ib numbers are posted to entrants in advance. The event operates a plastic-free policy at water stations, so participants are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle. There is no on-site parking; public car parks are available nearby. Enjoy gravel trails through ancient woodland in the New Forest at Maverick New Forest Gravel on 17 January 2026. Choose from 22 km, 12 km or 6 km routes with scenic forests, wildlife and a friendly festival vibe.

Choose a half marathon or 10K through Moors Valley woodlands with muddy trails, steep climbs and chances to spot deer and birds of prey. Finishers get a wooden medal and the course is fully supported and timed.

Starburster is a twilight 5 or 10 mile run through Hurn Forest on 31 January, with out and back laps on firm forest trails beneath sunset skies. Head torches are required and 20% of entry fees support Forestry England for trail care.

Join WRNL 12 in Corfe Mullen for a 60 minute street and park score orienteering event based around the Dorset Soldier pub. SI timing, free parking and pub food on site. Juniors enter free; bring high visibility clothing and a torch.
