Jurassic Express Trail Run : Swanage to Corfe Castle

The Jurassic Express Trail Run is a coastal trail event that starts on Swanage seafront and finishes beneath the ruins of Corfe Castle. The route passes notable coastline features including Old Harry Rocks and Studland, and runs on firm chalk paths and sandy tracks.

Three route distances are offered:

  • 21k
  • 16.5k
  • 10.5k

Each distance has a recorded elevation gain: the 21k route rises about 473 m, the 16.5k about 399 m, and the 10.5k about 273 m. On-course support includes refreshments, first aid cover, and marshals. The event uses chip timing and provides a high-quality metal finisher's medal, a finisher's goodie and drink, and a personalised certificate.

After the finish at Corfe Castle, participants can board a private vintage steam train for the return journey to Swanage. Train tickets are priced at £9 per person and can be purchased with event booking or on the day. Spectators are welcome and may also purchase train tickets.

The course is waymarked and uses coloured arrows and tape to indicate the route, with caution signage at hazards and road junctions. The organiser requests reusable cups or bottles because the event operates plastic-free at water stations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
