John Wayne Grit Series : Jackson Hole (Turpin Meadow Ranch)
This trail event takes place at Turpin Meadow Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on land bordering Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and within the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The course follows rugged dirt roads and single-track trails through forested terrain and features views of the Grand Tetons and the Buffalo Fork River. The run benefits the John Wayne Cancer Foundation; the listed fundraising goal is $80,000 and progress is shown at 64 percent.
Race weekend includes organized activities at Red Cliffs Lodge such as a ticketed dinner with a movie premiere, a free community event with live music and food trucks, and a post-run Grit Down / Burger Bash with food, beverage tastings, and live music. Packet pickup and parking are located at Red Cliffs Lodge; parking there is free and participants must take a shuttle to the start area, which is about three miles away. There is no parking at the start/finish area.
Event details note a cupless policy: participants should bring a handheld bottle or hydration pack; aid station details are forthcoming and finishers will receive filled water bottles at the finish. Podium prizes are awarded to three female and three male winners on each course, for a total of 18 podium medals and prizes. Participants receive a John Wayne Grit Series shirt and a finisher mug.
