Cirque Series at Grand Targhee

The Cirque Series race at Grand Targhee is a mountain course of 7.1 miles with 2,212' ft of vertical gain. The route starts at the base of Grand Targhee near the Dreamcatcher chair and climbs the service road via the Teton Vista Traverse into mid mountain singletrack and alpine ridgelines.

The course follows Teton Traverse and Many Saddle Hiking Trail into Caribou Targhee National Forest, reaches an aid station near the base of Mary’s Ridge at about mile 2.2, then ascends Mary’s Ridge over large boulders and singletrack to the summit known as Mary’s Nipple at 9,920 ft. Runners continue along the ridge toward Peaked Mountain, make a short technical ascent to Peaked Mountain summit at 9,830 ft, then descend over rock ridges, brief service roads and multiple singletrack sections before finishing at the Trap Bar plaza vendor village.

Aid stations provide hydration and there is an additional aid station near mile 3.8. The course is marked with orange flagging and competitors must follow the flagged route; if a runner dislodges a rock they should warn others by shouting rock. A strict cutoff applies at the base of Mary’s ascent, roughly 1.9 miles, at 50 minutes. Race entry is capped at 500 runners. Timing uses a disposable chip on the back of the bib. Course and operational details are subject to change. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
