Cirque Series - Grand Targhee, WY

The Cirque Series event at Grand Targhee takes place on August 29, 2026. The course is 7.1 miles with 2,212' ft of vertical gain and starts at the base of Grand Targhee (elevation 7,860 ft) near the Dreamcatcher chair and Trap Bar patio. The route uses service roads and singletrack trails through aspen groves, spruce forest and high alpine terrain in the Caribou Targhee National Forest.

Runners follow Teton Vista Traverse and Teton Traverse Trail, connect to Many Saddle Hiking Trail, then reach the base of Mary’s Ridge where an aid station is located at about mile 2. The ascent up Mary’s Ridge includes large boulders and technical singletrack that may require use of hands. Mary's Nipple summit is listed at 9,920 ft. The route continues along a ridge to Peaked Mountain and includes a short technical climb to the Peaked summit at 9,830 ft, where snow is possible. A second aid station is located near mile 3.8. The descent follows rock ridges and named singletrack sections including Ain’t Life Grand, Peaked Trail, Yada and Yada Yada, finishing on lower Andy's singletrack in the Trap Bar vendor village.

The race uses disposable timing chips on bibs and provides hydration at aid stations and the finish. Race entry is capped at 500 runners. Categories are Sport, Expert and Pro, plus a Volunteer option. Prizes include cash for Pro places and gear awards for Expert and Sport places. Safety measures include marked orange flagging, instructions for rock hazards and a strict cutoff of 50 minutes at the base of Mary’s ascent, approximately mile 2.
