Jane Tomlinson Canal FUN RUN 1.5 miles

This event is a community fun run held on Tuesday 7 July 2026 in Methley, Leeds. The solo distance is 1.5 Miles on a flat towpath course that covers one lap and crosses two bridges. The route is described as trail and is not suitable for wheelchairs. The race is licensed TRA 8328 and is run under UKA rules.

Rothwell Harriers AC organises the series to raise money for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal. The race has been established for nearly 20 years. Entry is limited to 200 participants and the entry fee is £8.50; entry on the day is not available. Race headquarters are at the Commercial Pub, 12 Main Street, Methley LS26 9JE, which is about a five minute walk from the start. Toilets, changing facilities and baggage storage are available at the pub.

Medals and chocolate are provided for all runners. There is a schools competition in which the first two boys and the first two girls from each school count toward a shield; the shield is awarded once the accompanying 5k race is underway. Prizes are awarded across age categories and the series. After the 5k there are community activities at the pub including a raffle, a BBQ and a cake competition. An evening trail race in Shirtcliffe Woods organised by Handsworth Roadhogs, run over two laps totalling 5.25 miles (8.5 km). Entry is online only with fees of £6 for UKA affiliated and £8 for unaffiliated runners.

Cragg Vale on 1 July 2026 is a 4 miles (6.4 km) fell race with 244 m of climb run from the village near Cragg Vale Church. Entry on the day is £8 cash and registration and refreshments are based at Cragg Church.

A 9.5 km fell race to the summit of Win Hill on 1 July 2026 with 451 metres of ascent. Entry is by on the day fee and all profits support local charities and community groups.
