Event Overview

The Iron Heart Ultra Race is scheduled for Saturday, February 14. The event takes place at Massey Hill Shelter within Maramec Spring Park, located at 21880 Maramec Spring Drive in St. James, Missouri.

Race Distances

The event offers multiple distances: 100 Mile, 100K, 50 Mile, 50K, 20 Mile, 15 Mile, 20K, 10 Mile, 15K, 10K, 5 Mile, and 5K. There is a 32-hour cutoff time for the race. An early start option at 2:00 a.m. is available exclusively for the 100 Mile distance, with a 36-hour cutoff; participants using this early start are not eligible for overall male or female awards.

Course Details

The course utilizes two trails within Maramec Spring Park. The Leatherbritches Trail is a 1.8-mile loop through pine and oak/hickory forest, offering views of the historic Maramec Iron Works mine pit. The BallHooter Trail is a 3.2-mile loop described as moderately challenging, with approximately 246 feet of elevation gain, featuring runnable terrain mixed with technical sections. A fully stocked aid station is located at the transition point between these two trails.

Logistics & Amenities

Packet pickup and a pasta dinner (requiring an RSVP) are scheduled for the evening before the race at Massey Hill Shelter. Pacers are permitted only for specific distances: for the 100 Mile event after mile 50, and for the 100K event starting at mile 52; pacers must check in and wear a pacer bib. Spectators are welcome at the main aid station. Camping is allowed in the parking lot and grassy areas around the shelter, though no hookups are provided. Well-behaved pets are welcome.

Awards
