3 Legged Monster Race : August 15, 2026

The 3 Legged Monster Race is a two-person relay on the Ozark Trail inside the Mark Twain National Forest near Steelville, Missouri. The event combines three sequential legs: trail running, mountain biking and paddling. Running legs follow a stretch of the Ozark Trail through the Huzzah Conservation Area toward Bass' River Resort, featuring bluff overlooks, mossy rocks, seasonal waterfalls and hardwood forests. Mountain biking follows sections of singletrack and gravel through oak and pine stands with switchback climbs onto cherty ridges. The paddling leg follows Courtois Creek and Huzzah Creek, then the Meramec River, with the official finish on a gravel bar near the river bridge.

Two course choices are offered with separate short and long segments for each discipline. Paddles are provided by Bass' River Resort and participants are asked not to bring their own. Support on course includes water and medical assistance at aid stations; aid station mile locations are provided for each leg. Logistics notes include limited cell service in the region, no refunds for registration fees, the need to arrange camping separately with the resorts, and that waterways will be heavily used by other river users. Event proceeds support the Ozark Trail Association, a 501c(3) organization focused on trail development and preservation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
