3 Legged Monster Race - August 15, 2026

The 3 Legged Monster Race is a team relay for pairs held on the Ozark Trail within the Mark Twain National Forest near Steelville and Leasburg, Missouri. The event combines three sequential legs: trail running, mountain biking, and paddling. The running leg follows a stretch of the Ozark Trail through rolling hardwood forests, bluff overlooks, mossy rock outcrops, and seasonal waterfalls toward Bass' River Resort. The mountain biking leg travels scenic pine and oak stands, including singletrack and gravel sections, and is designated an IMBA "epic" ride. The paddling leg follows Courtois and Huzzah Creeks onto the Meramec River toward the finish at Ozark Outdoors.

There are short and long course options with set distances for each discipline:

  • Short course: Run 7 miles, MTB 11 miles, Paddle 12 miles
  • Long course: Run 13 miles, MTB 30 miles, Paddle 12 miles

Support at aid stations includes water and medical assistance. Paddles are provided by Bass' River Resort and participants are asked not to bring their own. Logistics notes include limited cell service on course, no refunds of registration fees, separate start locations for runners and bikers, and that waterways will be busy with other users. Proceeds support the Ozark Trail Association, a 501c(3) organization. T shirt size guarantee requires registration by July 15 and general registration closes August 10.
