Iron Furnace Trail Run

McArthur, United States • 4 Apr 2026

Event overview

The Iron Furnace Trail Run is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026, in McArthur, Ohio. The 2026 running marks the 13th annual edition. The event is based at Lake Hope State Park Beach, Park Rd 9, and includes course sections in Zaleski State Forest. Registration opens on December 1, 2025. Volunteer sign-up is available.

Course and distances

The event offers the following distances:

  • 1/2 Marathon (13.1 miles)
  • 5 Mile

The half marathon follows mostly single-track trails that enter the rugged and remote Zaleski State Forest. The route passes deep gorges, overlooks, and rocky outcrops. The 5 mile course is also singletrack, runs partly along the lake, and covers a smaller portion of the forest terrain than the half marathon. Since 2025 the start and finish location was changed; the new location remains within Lake Hope State Park and the majority of the 13.1 mile course is unchanged, though the course and some race details were altered.
