Run for the Arts

The Interlochen Run for the Arts is an annual athletic event held on the Interlochen Center for the Arts campus. Participants can choose between an in-person at the campus or a virtual option. The live course consists of a mix of paved and unpaved trails. During the event, runners and walkers encounter live music and art installations along the route.

The event offers the following distances:

  • 5 km Run/Walk
  • 5 km Virtual Run

Registration proceeds are used to fund student scholarships, facilitating access for students from various backgrounds. In-person participants can pick up their race materials at locations in Interlochen or nearby Running Fit. Those opting for the virtual distance can complete their run in any location, such as a neighborhood or on a treadmill, between May 2 and May 16. Virtual participants receive a race t-shirt and a medal by mail, with shipping costs included in the entry fee.

The live race is timed and scored using ChronoTrack technology. Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as to winners in several age divisions ranging from 14 and under to 80 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
