If You're Not First You're Last

This event in Eagle, ID at 165 Eagle Island Parkway is organized as a Last Man Standing race with an optional 3 Loop Challenge. It is part of the 2026 Idaho Trail Ultra Series (ITUS). The Last Man Standing format uses repeated hourly loops of the same course; each loop is 4.167 miles and runners have one hour to complete each loop. To continue, competitors must return to the starting corral at the start of each hour; failure to do so results in a DNF. The final winner is the competitor who completes one more full loop than every other starter; if no one can do that, there is no winner.

The event notes that running at least a 50K in the Last Man Standing race will count toward ITUS requirements and that completing the full 3 Loop Challenge will also count as one of the races needed for the ITS jacket. Overall fastest times determine winners in the 3 Loop Challenge, with one male and one female winner. Runners who want guaranteed schwag must be registered by Sep 1. Packet pickup is scheduled for Sep 9 and Sep 10 at the Idaho Running Company in Boise. Same day registration will be available and refunds are not offered.

Additional rules include a two crew member limit at the start and finish, no non-competitors on the course, no personal aid during a loop, a minimal aid station at the start/finish with water, Tailwind, coffee and broth, and a prohibition on artificial aids including trekking poles. Results will record distance covered for each runner. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
