Boise Front Trail Festival
The Boise Front Trail Festival is a two day trail running event held at Bogus Basin, with the Frontier Point Lodge as the primary race location. The festival includes an uphill only hill climb and two distance races held on mountain trails in the Boise foothills.
Event distances
- 5 mile race on Bogus Basin trails
- 10 mile race climbing over 2,000 feet
- Hill Climb uphill only race finishing at Shafer Butte summit
The hill climb follows a short, steep route to the summit of Shafer Butte. Participants are guided on the quickest route back down but are expected to descend under their own power. Organizers note that 2026 courses are under consideration and that available maps from previous years may not reflect the final routes.
Proceeds from the festival are donated to Ridge to Rivers; since 2022 the event has contributed to local trail projects, including the Hawkins Reserve Trail. The 10 mile race serves as the USATF Snake River Regional Trail Championship with prize money for top finishers. Additional awards include prize money for top male and female USATF members and age group prizes.
Logistics include packet pickup at Fleet Feet locations in Meridian and Nampa with limited race day pickup at the start/finish area, parking at Frontier Point Lodge lots with volunteer direction, and bathrooms provided by the lodge and portable units. All 5 mile and 10 mile finishers receive a t shirt and a custom designed medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
