Hurt'n Bear Trail Race

The Hurt'n Bear Trail Race takes place at the Pidherny Recreation Site, a 620-hectare area above North Nechako Drive. Trails are shaped by eskers and glacial kettles along the Nechako River and include a mix of singletrack and forest service roads within Prince George city limits.

The Kids Race is about 1 km with no timing or competition. The 5 km route has approximately 230 m ascent and descent and no aid stations. The 10 km route has roughly 361 m ascent and includes one aid station at the junction with the Pidherny Forest Service Road. The 21 km route has about 498 m ascent, three aid stations, and combines upper singletrack and lower trail networks with forest road connectors.

Operational and safety notes: the race is sanctioned by BC Athletics and manually timed. All participants must sign in and out at registration. Bear spray is recommended. First aid is provided by members of the Canadian Ski Patrol. No dogs or headphones are permitted. PGRR members race free but still must register online; non-members pay listed entry fees. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. A portion of proceeds supports trail maintenance through the Prince George Cycling Club. Pidherny is managed by the local cycling association and the area is on the traditional, unceded territory of the Lheidli T enneh Nation. Trail runs nearby

A trail race at Caledonia Nordic Ski Centre with 5 km and 10 km routes across the Otway trails. PGRR members run free and a kids race is included; expect bugs in June.

A trail race at Forests for the World offering 5 km and 10 km courses that pass Shane Lake and the Blue Spruce trail. Members register free and the 10 km turnaround includes a water station.

A year-end community trail event in Otway with guided 30 minute, one hour and two hour runs, followed by a shared pizza meal. Entry by donation; proceeds support The Right to Play.
