Huntsville Run Fest
Huntsville Run Fest is a trail running event at McMullen Cove, AL, built around multiple race distances and community support. The event includes road and trail courses with marked aid stations and several named landmarks along the route.
Distances:
- Sublett Challenge 5K
- 25K Trail Run
- 50K Trail Run
The Sublett Challenge is a certified 5K out-and-back on the Two Mountain Greenway that climbs the paved road to Sublett Point. An award titled King of the Mountain recognizes the fastest climb to the top. A Ruck Division is offered for participants who carry added weight.
The 25K and 50K follow the same single-track trail loop through the McMullen Cove system, with the 50K completing the loop twice. The 25K has about 2,500+ feet of climbing and the 50K about 5,000+ feet. Trails include steep and technical sections as well as faster runnable stretches, and most of the route is shaded beneath a dense forest canopy.
Several landmarks appear along the course, including Indian Trees, Pancake Hollow, Blake's Cabin, Sublett Point, and Silo Hill. Aid stations are placed throughout the course and are never more than four miles apart.
Packet pick-up locations are Fleet Feet Huntsville and McMullen Cove. Proceeds from the event support childhood cancer research. Sponsors include Fleet Feet Huntsville/Madison, Return 2 Sport PT, Enfinger Companies, McMullen Cove, Swift Recovery, and New Balance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
