Remembrance Sunday 2026 : Hare & Tortoise Running

The event takes place on 8 November 2026 in Brightlingsea, Essex. The race starts outside Batemans Tower Café on Promenade Way, CO7 0HH. The organisers will have the Last Post and Reveille played live before the start, with a two-minute silence between, and there will be an 11:00 silence observed within the race.

Course and race format

The course is an undulating, traffic-free, looped trail. Each loop is 10.54 km. Runners complete multiple laps within a 6-hour limit: two laps equal a half marathon and four laps equal a full marathon. A 6-hour timed option is also available.

Aid stations are located at the end of every lap and at approximately 5 km. The event is cupless, so participants must provide their own cup, flask, or bottle; speedcups will be available for purchase at registration. Aid stations accept runner bags and offer items such as flapjacks, sweet snacks, fruit, nuts, water and squash. The event is UKA affiliated, holds a TRA race permit, and is a 100 Club qualifying event.
