Hornby Island

The Hornby Island event features trail running races on Hornby Island, British Columbia. The course takes runners through mossy forests, rugged coastal bluffs, and fast, runnable sections. Participants navigate technical terrain involving rocks, roots, and bridges, with potential weather conditions ranging from sun to rain or snow at higher elevations.

Two distances are available:

• 50 km: A full island tour with approximately 1,393 meters of elevation gain.
• 25 km: A route featuring steep climbs and coastal views with 806 meters of elevation gain.

The event provides fully stocked aid stations, with four stations for the 50 km and one for the 25 km. This is a cup-less event, meaning runners must bring their own reusable bottles or cups. For the 50 km distance, drop bags are permitted at designated aid stations.

The race hub is located at Joe King Park. On-site amenities include a pre-race pancake breakfast with coffee and a post-race BBQ with beer. Accessing the venue requires taking two ferries from Vancouver Island via Denman Island. Because ferry schedules do not allow for arrival on the morning of the race, participants must arrive on the island the night before. Hiking poles are permitted for both race distances.
