Hornby Island 25k & 50k

The Hornby Island races take place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, on Hornby Island, British Columbia. The event offers two trail running distances:

  • 50k with approximately 1,400m of elevation gain.
  • 25k with approximately 806m of elevation gain.

The course weaves through mossy forest and coastal bluffs. The race start and finish is at Joe King Park on Central Road. Race day includes a pre-race pancake breakfast and coffee, and post-race food and drinks are provided from late morning.

For the 50k, there are four fully stocked aid stations and drop bags are permitted at specified points. For the 25k, there is one aid station and drop bags are not permitted. The aid stations do not provide disposable cups, so participants must bring a reusable cup or bottle. Hiking poles are allowed for both distances. Crews are not permitted for either race.

A government-issued photo ID is required for bib pick-up. Bib pick-up and the pre-race breakfast are available from 6:00 AM on race day at the registration tent. Post-race food starts from 11:00 AM.

There are strict cutoff times at various points on the course for both distances. The final finish line cutoff is 7:00 PM.

The event acknowledges that it takes place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Kwakwaka’wakw people from the K’omoks, We Wai Kai and Wei Wai Kum First Nations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
